“My husband lost his job in November and is having a difficult time finding another one. He is the sole financial provider for our family. We have a 4 year old son that is looking forward to Santa coming and I can’t imagine disappointing him. My husband and I moved into the area a little over a year ago for a better life for ourselves and our four year old son. My husband was recovering from two spinal surgeries so I was working. Shortly after, Covid hit and I was put out of work. Fortunately, I was able to receive unemployment. We struggled for many months, barely being able to pay our bills. During this time, we both continued to look for work. My unemployment made us ineligible for any assistance. In August my husband was able to secure a job and although it was out of his field and much less than he made before, it helped. He returned to work prematurely from the surgery and suffered a great deal of pain every day. He pushed through the pain so we could survive and keep a roof over our heads. In November, he was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his right foot. His job would not accommodate him to work light duty. He is doing his best to recover but in the meantime, we are once again trying to make it one only my unemployment. The bills are piling up and we are doing the best that we can. We are behind on every bill but trying to stay positive for our four year old son. With the holidays coming this has added more anxiety as we would hate to disappoint our little boy who believes in the magic of Christmas. We would appreciate any help we can get to make him happy.”
